Brayden Lape<\/strong>\u00a0joined forces with his coach\u00a0Blake Shelton<\/strong>\u00a0to perform Alan Jackson\u2019s \u201cChasin\u2019 That Neon Rainbow\u201d during the season 22 finale of NBC\u2019s\u00a0The Voice<\/em> on Tuesday (Dec. 13).<\/p>\n

Surrounded by neon lights and their names in lights,\u00a0Lape sang the first verse of the iconic Jackson hit before Shelton took on the second verse and the coach and contestant pairing flawlessly harmonized on the tune\u2019s chorus.<\/p>\n

\u201cSinging in the bars and chasing that neon rainbow \/ Living that honky-tonk dream \/ \u2018Cause all I\u2019ve ever wanted is to pick this guitar and sing \/ Just trying to be somebody \/ Just wanna be heard and seen \/ I\u2019m chasing that neon rainbow \/ Living that honky-tonk dream,\u201d Shelton and Lape sang on the chorus in perfect harmony.<\/p>\n

\u201cChasin\u2019 That Neon Rainbow\u201d was co-written by Jim McBride and country music icon Alan Jackson, who recorded and released\u00a0 September 1990 as the fourth single from Jackson\u2019s first album,\u00a0Here in the Real World.<\/i><\/p>\n

\u201cJim McBride and I were writing together for the first time,\u201d Jackson recalled of the tune\u2019s origin in the album notes. \u201cWe were talking about my life in Georgia and the experience of playing the honky tonk circuit. I remembered a radio that my daddy won when I was a young child and how my mama used to sing to my sisters and me. I also remembered how my mama hated for me to play in the bars. All those things set the story in motion, and within a few sessions, my life chasing that neon rainbow was set to music.\u201d<\/p>\n

Throughout Season 22 of The Voice, Lape has been a fan-favorite on\u00a0The Voice<\/em>\u00a0since he first took to the NBC studios stage during his blind audition, where he put a\u00a0country twist\u00a0on Niall Horan\u2019s \u201cThis Town.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have a solid country voice that\u2019s different and unique. You have a future in country music,\u201d Shelton previously gushed of Lape\u2019s talent.<\/p>\n

The season 22 finale of NBC\u2019s\u00a0The Voice<\/em>\u00a0aired on Tuesday evening (Dec. 13) at 9\/8c on NBC and will air again tomorrow (Dec. 14) on Peacock.<\/p>\n

The two-hour finale also featured performances from Kelly Clarkson, Maluma, OneRepublic, Adam Lambert, BRELAND and the season 21 winner of The Voice, Girl Named Tom.<\/p>\n

The Voice coaches\u2014Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, Camila Cabello and John Legend\u2014also took to the stage alongside The Voice finalists\u2014Omar Jose Cardona, Brayden Lape, Bryce Leatherwood, Morgan Myles, and bodie.<\/p>\n
