16-year-old Haven Madison impressed the\u00a0American Idol<\/em> judges with an original song in a first look at the upcoming Season 21 premiere, airing on Sunday (Feb. 19) at 8\/7c on ABC.<\/p>\n

Joined by her father, Jason Roy, on acoustic guitar, Madison showcased her vocal prowess with a performance of a self-penned original tune titled \u201cFifteen.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat if I want now \/ What if I\u2019m not the same \/ what if it\u2019s all the game and nothing ever\u2019s gonna change \/ What if I wanted now \/ and I don\u2019t know where I\u2019m going \/ and I\u2019m not sure where this ends \/ but even when the storms are coming \/ I\u2019m going stand against the wind \/ I\u2019ve got a heart that\u2019s full of questions \/ I guess I\u2019ll find out as I go \/ I\u2019d rather try to run the distance than live in fear and never know \/ what if want it now,\u201d Madison sang.<\/p>\n

Madison\u2019s Performance Blew The Judges Away<\/h2>\n

Following her audition,\u00a0Idol<\/em> judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan gushed over the Clarksville, Tennessee native\u2019s songwriting talents.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can have it. You can have it right now,\u201d Perry and Richie exclaimed as she concluded her performance.<\/p>\n

\u201cAbsolutely. In fact, let\u2019s go to the studio right now. Let\u2019s cut that song right now. Can we cut that song?\u201d Richie added, praising the young contestant\u2019s vocals and songwriting abilities.<\/p>\n

Madison\u2019s father, who is the lead singer of GRAMMY-nominated Christian contemporary music group, Building 429, was overcome with emotion after his daughter\u2019s audition.<\/p>\n

\u201cAre you okay? You\u2019re not. Oh my God, I saw that,\u201d Perry asked as she noticed Madison\u2019s dad tearing up.<\/p>\n

Richie added, \u201cOh my God. Dad, there\u2019s reason to cry.\u201d He went on to applaud the young singer\u2019s \u201cincredible\u201d songwriting skills.<\/p>\n

He also told Madison, \u201cYou can be anything you want to be right now. It\u2019s believable. Artist, voice, songwriting. Check. Check. Check. I don\u2019t see anything wrong now, except the world doesn\u2019t know anything about you, but they will. That was incredible and I\u2019m so happy you came to American Idol.\u201d<\/p>\n

A Golden Ticket<\/h2>\n

Perry then chimed in, exclaiming, \u201cthe vocal decision you made, they were just like so on another level. And they\u2019re so you and authentic and coming from your heart, that song has a lot of opportunity to be something.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bryan then declared, \u201cwe\u2019re starting this day off good,\u201d as Haven Madison marked the first Idol audition to air.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, I think when a 16-year-old can really speak the 16-year-old language that all the other 16-year-olds want to hear, it\u2019s really special. I mean, whatever y\u2019all are doing is what,\u201d Bryan said. \u201cLet Dad just hit the record button.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ultimately, Haven Madison earned three yeses and a golden ticket to Hollywood.<\/p>\n
