Recalling a pivotal moment early in their marriage, Dolly revealed she once convinced Carl to\u00a0attend an awards show in 1967 when she won BMI Song of the Year<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Despite the big win, \u2018homebody\u2019 Carl told her: \u2018I wish you the best, but don\u2019t ever ask me to go to another one of these damn things because I ain\u2019t going.\u2019<\/p>\n

But that didn\u2019t mean Carl didn\u2019t\u00a0have an impact on Dolly\u2019s music career<\/span>\u00a0as he was the little-known inspiration behind her 1973 smash hit Jolene.<\/p>\n

\u2018She got this terrible crush on my husband. And he just loved going to the bank because she paid him so much attention,\u2019 she shared.<\/p>\n

\u2018It was kinda like a running joke between us \u2014 when I was saying, \u2018Hell, you\u2019re spending a lot of time at the bank. I don\u2019t believe we\u2019ve got that kind of money\u201d.\u2019<\/p>\n

Dolly described the woman\u2019s appearance and told how she couldn\u2019t help but feel threatened by her.<\/p>\n

\u2018She had everything I didn\u2019t, like legs,\u2019 she said. \u2018You know, she was about 6 feet tall.<\/p>\n
