Her soulful, powerhouse voice and fearless stage presence transformed her from a timid teen into a rock star, leaving everyone in awe."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From the beginning of her audition, it was clear that America\u2019s Got Talent\u2019s four judges \u2013 Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Mel B, and Heidi Klum \u2013 didn\u2019t have high expectations for 13-year-old singer Courtney Hadwin when she auditioned for the show back in 2019. \u201cDon\u2019t be nervous,\u201d Mel B said, trying to reassure the teenager after she admitted the nerves were getting to her. \u201cI know this is a big stage and there\u2019s lots of people here. But you\u2019re here for a reason, so go for it and good luck.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As it turned out, Courtney didn\u2019t need any luck whatsoever. As soon as she started singing \u2013 putting her own fiery, soulful take on Otis Redding\u2019s \u2018Too Hot To Handle\u2019 \u2013 the judges\u2019 mouths fell open in shock, unable to believe that such an incredible voice could come from a young girl who only a few seconds before had seemed so shy and unsure of herself. Her confidence levels were also off the scale, and she danced wildly around the stage as though she had been doing it all her life.<\/p>\n<p data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/smemL0SjN80\" data-id=\"smemL0SjN80\" data-query=\"feature=oembed\" data-alt=\"Courtney Hadwin: 13-Year-Old Golden Buzzer Winning Performance - America's Got Talent 2019\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Courtney Hadwin: 13-Year-Old Golden Buzzer Winning Performance - America's Got Talent 2019\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/smemL0SjN80\" width=\"350\" height=\"235\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-origwidth=\"350\" data-origheight=\"235\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>But the best was yet to come for Courtney, because when she finished her performance, judge Howie Mandel decided he loved her voice so much that he was going to press his golden buzzer, putting her straight through to the America\u2019s Got Talent quarter-finals. \u201cOh my gosh, you\u2019re not from this era,\u201d he said, clearly awe-struck, \u201cyou\u2019re from a whole different era,\u201d while an impressed Simon Cowell told her, \u201cyou were this shy little thing when you came out, and then you sing and you\u2019re like a lion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sadly, Courtney didn\u2019t win America\u2019s Got Talent; instead, she made the top ten.
