His family announced his death in a social media post saying, he \u201cis now with the Lord.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe celebrate today that our father, husband, and grandfather, Phil Robertson, is now with the Lord. He reminded us often of the words of Paul, \u2018you do not grieve like those who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him,\u2019\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank you for the love and prayers of so many whose lives have been impacted by his life saved by grace, his bold faith, and by his desire to tell everyone who would listen the Good News of Jesus. Many times in recent months, his sons have shared updates on\u00a0Phil and his wife, Kay.\u00a0Both of the elder Robertson\u2019s have had their fair share of health issues that required surgeries and hospitalizations, and resulted in being moved out of their beloved Louisiana home.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-5\"><\/div>\n<h3>A few years prior to his death, Phil told his sons not to cry when he dies.<\/h3>\n<p>In an episode of their\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/shorts\/eig3fbAwvJM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Unashamed<\/a>\u00a0podcast in 2022, Phil told his son, Jase, \u201cWhen I die, don\u2019t cry. Sing. Dance. But don\u2019t cry when I die. When I die you say, \u2018He made it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Later that year, he addressed his death again. He told fans on his YouTube channel,\u00a0<em>\u201cOne day I am going to depart from you. You\u2019re gonna pick up a newspaper or that little black box and it\u2019s gonna say, \u2018Phil Robertson has died.\u2019 And some will cry and some will leap with joy, but just remember this, I didn\u2019t pass away. I will make every effort to see that after my departure, you will always be able to remember these things. You live on if you belong to Jesus. I\u2019ll just go from \u2018the tent\u2019 to immortality.
