Everyone knows\u00a0Miley Cyrus\u2018 dad is country star\u00a0Billy Ray Cyrus, but what about her godmother?<\/p>\n

With the release of her new single, \u201cMore to Lose,\u201d Miley Cyrus is opening up about her creative relationship with her famous godmother, whom she affectionately knows as \u201cAunt Dolly.\u201d<\/p>\n

Born in 1992, in Franklin, Tennessee, Miley\u2019s honorary godmother is none other than\u00a0Dolly Parton.<\/p>\n

In a video\u00a0posted to Instagram\u00a0with the caption \u201cI will always love you Aunt Dolly,\u201d accompanied by a butterfly emoji, Miley recently spoke about part of her creative process on her upcoming ninth album,\u00a0Something Beautiful<\/em>\u00a0(2025).<\/p>\n

Miley Shares Her New Album With Dolly<\/h2>\n

Noting she went to visit Dolly this past Christmas, she began by stating,\u00a0\u201cI played her Something Beautiful, and, you know, I was excited because she just came off her rock album.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Dolly\u2019s album\u00a0Rockstar<\/em>\u00a0(2023) includes a\u00a0duet of Dolly and her goddaughter\u00a0singing Cyrus\u2019 2013 hit \u201cWrecking Ball,\u201d among many other covers. That same year, Miley released her eighth album,\u00a0Endless Summer Vacation<\/em>\u00a0(2023), which earned her the first two Grammy Awards of her career for the single \u201cFlowers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Continuing, Miley said that Dolly\u2019s initial reaction to hearing her unfinished new record was,\u00a0\u201cAlright, I see what you\u2019re doin\u2019 here. You got any hits?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Responding, Miley said,\u00a0\u201cI was pretty sure I didn\u2019t at that time, so I was like, \u2018Yeah, I do, it\u2019s called \u2018More to Lose,\u2019 but I hadn\u2019t written it yet.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Upon returning to Los Angeles from her Christmas visit with Dolly, she said she kicked off the new year in the studio on January 2, writing \u201cMore to Lose\u201d with their visit in mind.<\/p>\n

Of \u201cMore to Lose,\u201d Cyrus added,\u00a0\u201cI\u2019ve always thought of this as my \u2018I Will Always Love You,\u2019 so this is my song for Aunt Dolly.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
