18-Year-old John Foster Auditioned For\u00a0American Idol<\/em>\u00a0During The March 23rd Episode<\/h2>\n

18-year-old John Foster walked into the\u00a0American Idol<\/em>\u00a0audition room\u00a0wearing a cowboy hat and a guitar strapped to his shoulder. Immediately, judges Carrie Underwood, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan knew what type of music they were in for. In addition to his\u00a0traditional country\u00a0look, he had host Ryan Seacrest help him bring in three red coolers with each of the judges\u2019 names on them.<\/p>\n

Some Cajun food was in the coolers, as he is from Addis, Louisiana, and wanted to show some \u201cCajun hospitality.\u201d After Luke Bryan complimented the jerky, Foster revealed that he is studying biology and hopes to become an oncologist, specifically, a \u201csinging oncologist.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOh, you one of them smart people?\u201d Bryan asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know about that, but I try my best!\u201d Foster replied.<\/p>\n

John Auditioned With A Classic Alan Jackson Cover<\/h3>\n

After the judges thanks him for bringing them Cajun snacks, Foster revealed he would be performing Alan Jackson\u2019s \u201cDon\u2019t Rock The Jukebox.\u201d<\/p>\n

Underwood and Bryan enjoyed dancing along to the beat and singing the lyrics to one another. Even though it was an enjoyable audition and had the judges\u2019 table dancing, it was clear they weren\u2019t wowed.<\/p>\n

They were clearly having a great time with Foster\u2019s performance, but Underwood explained that she wanted to hear another song that \u201cshowcases [his] vocals a little more.\u201d<\/p>\n

Luckily, he had another song up his sleeve, Conway Twitty\u2019s \u201cGoodbye Time.\u201d<\/h3>\n

\u201cAww, hell!\u201d Bryan said, admiring the song choice. The country singer admitted he\u2019d also been singing the song all day and even sang along at some parts!<\/p>\n

Carrie Underwood<\/h4>\n

\u201cThank you! I got the information that I wanted out of that. That sweet spot in your voice that that song really brought out. If you end going through to Hollywood, when we ask you to sing different genres, be yourself, but definitely think about how you\u2019re going to navigate different situations.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lionel Richie<\/h4>\n

\u201cCarrie\u2019s right. I want to hear more of who you are, I mean I love the timber, but you gotta carve out and start making your sound. \u201c<\/em><\/p>\n

Luke Bryan<\/h4>\n

\u201cLionel said what my heart was thinking. I don\u2019t know. I don\u2019t know if vocally it\u2019s there to make it through many rounds of American Idol, but I think you\u2019ve got a nice voice.\u00a0 You\u2019ve got a lot of great tools. That last song certainly showed us that. I\u2019m a yes.\u00a0I went from no to yes.\u201d\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Underwood clarified that Bryan\u2019s change in vote was because she asked for another song, and Bryan confirmed that was correct. Richie agreed.<\/p>\n
