Hoffman and Wife Injured in Targeted Shootings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"118\" data-end=\"701\">Authorities are actively searching for <strong data-start=\"157\" data-end=\"178\">Vance Boelter, 57<\/strong>, the suspect in a politically motivated shooting spree that targeted Democratic lawmakers in Minnesota. Boelter, a former appointee to the Governor\u2019s Workforce Development Board, is accused of killing <strong data-start=\"380\" data-end=\"430\">Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband<\/strong> at their Brooklyn Park home and injuring <strong data-start=\"472\" data-end=\"509\">Senator John Hoffman and his wife<\/strong> at their Champlin residence, located just five miles apart. A \u201cmanifesto\u201d found in a fake police vehicle at one of the scenes named multiple lawmakers and officials, suggesting premeditation.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"703\" data-end=\"1189\">The shootings occurred in the early morning hours of Saturday and have prompted a <strong data-start=\"785\" data-end=\"804\">massive manhunt<\/strong>. Brooklyn Park Police Chief Mark Bruley confirmed that the suspect impersonated a police officer and warned residents to only open their doors if <strong data-start=\"951\" data-end=\"979\">two officers are present<\/strong>. A shelter-in-place order remains active for a three-mile radius around the Edinburgh Golf Course area, as the suspect\u2014described as a white male wearing a black tactical vest and blue uniform\u2014remains at large.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1191\" data-end=\"1591\">Governor <strong data-start=\"1200\" data-end=\"1212\">Tim Walz<\/strong> has called the shootings a <strong data-start=\"1240\" data-end=\"1270\">\u201cpolitical assassination,\u201d<\/strong> especially in regard to Hortman\u2019s killing. The FBI has joined local authorities in the investigation. Walz expressed optimism for Hoffman and his wife, who were both seriously wounded but are expected to survive. He praised Hortman as a dedicated and beloved public servant whose loss is a devastating blow to the state.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1593\" data-end=\"1968\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Police say Boelter, who previously served under both Governors Walz and Dayton, exchanged gunfire with officers at Hortman\u2019s home before fleeing on foot. His impersonation of law enforcement has made the situation especially dangerous.
