Although loving her life as a mother, she felt compelled to audition for season 23 of\u00a0<em>American Idol<\/em>. And following that feeling, it landed her in the season finale. While Nix ended up finishing in third place, the singer watched as the moment took her to the Grand Ole Opry. With the last few months a whirlwind for Nix, she looked back on the decision to audition and revealed how some people around her pushed back on the idea.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/fwtx.com\/downloads\/49218\/download\/american-idol-breanna-nix-175949_2351.jpg?cb=95185c18e41b5694b22b48a3c86168d5&amp;w=1200\" alt=\"Breanna Nix Hits 'American Idol' Top 5 from Denton - Fort Worth Magazine\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Since leaving the\u00a0<em>American Idol<\/em>\u00a0stage,\u00a0Nix\u00a0wasted no time gaining her footing in the music industry. She released her first single with \u201cHigher\u201d and even debuted at the Grand Ole Opry. Receiving a standing ovation for her performance, the singer proved that coming in third on\u00a0<em>American Idol<\/em> wasn\u2019t the end for her career.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Breanna Nix - Higher (Official Audio)\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Lr-4ECd6ssQ\" width=\"350\" height=\"235\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-origwidth=\"350\" data-origheight=\"235\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>But even before auditioning, Nix\u2019s dream almost ended. Answering fan questions on her\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/breannanixmusic\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Instagram Stories<\/a>, the singer revealed, \u201cSpecifically in this season that I have been in, I have had to walk almost, like, blinded if that makes any sense. Just a hundred percent in faith. There was a lot of people in my life that I looked up to over the years that told me to not go on \u2018American Idol,\u2019 that it would ruin so many things that I had going for me, and that that could not be from God, yada yada yada.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"h-the-lesson-breanna-nix-wanted-to-teach-her-son\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Lesson Breanna Nix Wanted To Teach Her Son<\/h3>\n<p>Although listening to the feedback from those around her, Nix leaned on her faith for guidance. \u201cI knew that God spoke to me, and I knew that God told me to go on \u2018American Idol. And I\u2019m so thankful and so happy that I obeyed his voice and I went.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With\u00a0Nix\u00a0wanting to set a great example for her son, Emerson, she hoped that he would learn from her decision to trust God. \u201cGod has been with me through every part of the journey. Even after \u2018American Idol,\u2019 before, the whole season in itself. And I think that\u2019s the biggest thing I want (Emerson) to take away, or to pass down (to him), is just to obey the voice of God, and to trust him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As for the future, Nix revealed she was currently working on new music but didn\u2019t have permission to share it just yet.
