Texas Congressman Brandon Gill stirred major controversy after demanding that Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar be deported to Somalia. He shared a video online where Omar was advising Somali immigrants\u2014possibly undocumented\u2014on how to handle encounters with immigration officers, telling them not to disclose personal information and to cite legal advice. Gill\u2019s post declared that \u201cAmerica would be a better place\u201d without her, sparking outrage and support across social media.<\/p>\n

The video, originally shared by a conservative influencer, was interpreted by some as Omar encouraging illegal activity. Gill\u2019s followers called for her expulsion from Congress and even a criminal investigation. Doubling down, Gill\u2019s office claimed the U.S. should never have let Omar in, accusing her of helping undocumented immigrants evade enforcement.<\/p>\n
