\u201cRooted in Americana, indie folk, and country music,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0Noah Cyrus\u2018 second album,\u00a0I WANT MY LOVED ONES TO GO WITH ME<\/em>, finds the artist working on themes of family and nature.<\/p>\n

Set for a July 11 release, a press release noted that the album includes songs with two special\u00a0\u201cNashville guests,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0Ella Langley\u00a0and\u00a0Blake Shelton.<\/p>\n

Described as an\u00a0\u201cimmersive interpretation of country music,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0the press release notes,\u00a0\u201cShe tip-toed around the genre on her full-length debut, 2022\u2019s The Hardest Part, but throws herself headlong into its sounds on I WANT MY LOVED ONES TO GO WITH ME.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

This comes as Noah admits she has struggled to\u00a0\u201ctrust in [her] own choices,\u201d\u00a0<\/em>saying,\u201cI had to learn how to make decisions for myself and make that transition into adulthood, but I\u2019ve found who I am, I know who I am, and this record shows what I had inside me all this time.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

She added,\u00a0\u201cThis album is me.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Embracing Country<\/h2>\n

Speaking with her mom, Tish, in an\u00a0April 24 episode of the podcast\u00a0Sorry We\u2019re Cyrus<\/em><\/a>, Noah remembers struggling in her pursuit of having her \u201cown vision.\u201d<\/p>\n

As the\u00a0youngest child of country star Billy Ray Cyrus, she said she\u2019s beginning to becoming more comfortable with her country roots, especially as she sees the genre expanding.<\/p>\n

Of the album\u00a0I WANT MY LOVED ONES TO GO WITH ME<\/em>, Noah said:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s this much more true Americana folk, sort of indie country approach. It\u2019s kind of a mix of a lot of genres, which is what I love so much about country music right now. The genre is so much more open.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Included on the tracklist for Noah\u2019s new album are \u201cWay Of The World,\u201d featuring Ella Langley; and \u201cNew Country,\u201d featuring Blake Shelton.<\/p>\n

Released on Friday, June 20, \u201cNew Country\u201d finds Noah and Blake singing a duet for much of the duration of the song.<\/p>\n

Starting with a lone acoustic guitar, a solo Noah joins in, singing the first verse before Blake accompanies her in this country-tinged ballad.<\/p>\n

Together, they sing:<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is walking through a wildfire. This is learning how to live and not just stay alive. This is high stakes that you might lose, but when you know there\u2019s nothing to go back to, then you have to find a new country.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

From there, the sentiment of\u00a0\u201cnew country\u201d<\/em>\u00a0is repeated, bringing to the forefront the notion of the country music genre as a whole.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the upcoming album as a whole, Noah said something that describes her duet with Blake quite well, saying,\u00a0\u201cI want to evoke that feeling of a comforting friend that a song can be \u2014 and allow us all to heal.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
