At least five girls were killed and several missing\u00a0after devastating flash floods swept through a\u00a0Texas<\/span> summer camp on the Fourth of July.<\/p>\n

Eleven girls are missing from Camp Mystic in Hunt, Texas, and five of their fellow campers have died after the rushing waters destroyed the all-girls private Christian summer camp.<\/p>\n

The total\u00a0death toll has risen<\/span>\u00a0to 69, including 21 children, after the Guadalupe River flooded and surged by up to 30 feet above its usual water level on Friday.<\/p>\n

Beloved\u00a0director of Camp Mystic<\/span>, Richard \u2018Dick\u2019 Eastland, 70, died while trying to save girls as a month\u2019s worth of rain dropped in a matter of minutes.<\/p>\n

One week before the tragedy, the camp shared videos on social media of the campers happily prancing around on stage during their first term chorus and dance production.<\/p>\n

The youngest campers slept on low-laying \u2018flats\u2019 inside the camp\u2019s cabins, whereas older girls slept in cabins on higher ground, according to the NYT.<\/p>\n

Most of the missing girls are from the younger age bracket, who were sleeping just yards away from the banks of the Guadalupe River.<\/p>\n

Texas Governor\u00a0Greg Abbott<\/span>\u00a0said that some 750 girls had been staying at the camp when the floodwaters hit.<\/p>\n

The family of Lila Bonner, who was sharing a cabin at the camp with her best friend Eloise Peck, confirmed her passing to\u00a0NBC News.<\/p>\n

\u2018In the midst of our unimaginable grief, we ask for privacy and are unable to confirm any details at this time,\u2019 the family said.<\/p>\n

\u2018We ache with all who loved her and are praying endlessly for others to be spared from this tragic loss.\u2019<\/p>\n

Dallas girl Eloise Peck, who recently finished second grade at Bradfield Elementary with her best friend Lili, also died in the flood.<\/p>\n

\u2018Eloise was literally friends with everyone. She loved spaghetti but not more than she loved dogs and animals,\u2019 her mother, Missy Peck, told\u00a0FOX 4.<\/p>\n

Multiple people who lost their lives in the biblical flooding were not attending Camp Mystic.<\/p>\n

The death toll currently stands at 67 \u2013 including 38 adults.<\/p>\n

Texas\u2019s Division of Emergency Management predicted the number of dead as a result of catastrophic flooding in Kerrville would top 100,\u00a0sources told Daily Mail.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

People have been desperately posting about their missing friends and relatives in a bid to help the search effort to find them, following the flooding.<\/p>\n

Among the children, who were not attending the camp but tragically lost their lives, are two other\u00a0young sisters<\/span>\u00a0who were visiting their grandparents when the flood rushed through their cabin.<\/p>\n

Two sisters, Blair and Brooke Harber, were among those who were killed in the deadly Texas floods.<\/p>\n

They were not attending Camp Mystic when the natural disaster struck.<\/p>\n

The girls were with their grandparents at a cabin along the Guadalupe River when they were swept away, reported\u00a0FOX 4.<\/p>\n

The girls\u2019 parents were staying at another cabin and are safe. Their grandparents, Charlene and Mike Harber, are missing.<\/p>\n

Brooke Harber, 11\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Brooke Harber, Blair\u2019s younger sister, was confirmed dead over the holiday weekend.<\/p>\n

Blair and Brooker were eighth grade and sixth grade students respectively at St. Rita Catholic School, according to their priest, Father Joshua J. Whitfield.<\/p>\n

\u2018Even if we may never fully understand why such tragedies happen, we are called to respond with love, compassion, and prayer,\u2019 Whitfield said.<\/p>\n

Missing girls lost in the flood<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

At least 11 girls from Camp Mystic are missing from the camp.<\/p>\n

One counselor is also still unaccounted for, county sheriff Larry Leitha said on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n

Camp Mystic attendees Kellyanne Lytal and Lainey Landry are among the missing children, according to\u00a0KENS 5.<\/p>\n

Wrecked father, Ty Badon, told CNN on Saturday that his\u00a0daughter and her friends are missing and\u00a0have not been seen or heard from since the disastrous rush of water.<\/p>\n

His daughter, Joyce Badon, and her friends, Ella Cahill, Reese Manchaca and Aiden Heartfield were last heard from around 4am on Friday.<\/p>\n

Authorities and search teams are still making their way through the wreckage to hopefully account for those missing.<\/p>\n

Haunting photos from Sunday showed teams searching through vegetation, as young girls accompanied by adults walked around what is left of Camp Mystic.<\/p>\n
