The family of a\u00a0Texas<\/span> father who died while rescuing his loved ones from sudden flash flooding in Texas shared his final, heartbreaking words: \u2018I\u2019m sorry, I\u2019m not going to make it. I love y\u2019all.\u2019<\/p>\n

Julian Ryan, 27, died early Friday morning, July 4, after fast-moving floodwaters from the Guadalupe River \u2013 which\u00a0surged over 30 feet above its normal height<\/span> \u2013 swept into his family\u2019s home in Ingram.<\/p>\n

The flooding, triggered by heavy rains overnight, left little time for families along the river to react.<\/p>\n

Ryan\u2019s fianc\u00e9e, Christinia Wilson, said the water surged into their home so quickly that it reached knee-level in just 20 minutes.<\/p>\n

\u2018[Water] just started pouring in, we had to fight the door to get it closed tried to hold the door closed, just so that too much didn\u2019t come in,\u2019 she told\u00a0KHOU.<\/p>\n

\u2018We ran back into the room and we started calling 911 but it just kept coming. We had no choice but to get out.\u2019<\/p>\n

In a final act of heroism, Ryan punched through a window to help his fianc\u00e9e, their children and his mother escape to the roof.<\/p>\n

But, the glass tore through his arm, severing an artery and nearly detaching the limb.<\/p>\n

\u2018It almost cut it clean off,\u2019 Wilson said of her loved one\u2019s catastrophic injury.<\/p>\n

Despite the severe injury, Ryan stayed focused on getting his family out safely. But with emergency responders unable to reach them in time, the father of two succumbed to his wounds hours later.<\/p>\n

\u2018About six o\u2019clock my husband was dead. He had lost all of it\u2026 all of his blood,\u2019 she said.<\/p>\n

Holding back tears, Wilson recalled her fianc\u00e9\u2019s harrowing final moments.<\/p>\n

\u2018He looked at me, the kids, and his mother and said, \u201cI\u2019m sorry, I\u2019m not going to make it. I love y\u2019all,\u201d\u2018 she said, adding that Ryan\u2019s body was recovered later that morning after the water receded.<\/p>\n

Loved ones say Ryan\u2019s bravery and selflessness will never be forgotten.<\/p>\n

\u2018He died a hero,\u2019 his sister, Connie Salas, said. \u2018That will never go unnoticed.\u2019<\/p>\n

The heroic father\u2019s family is now mourning the loss of a man they describe as kind, funny and fiercely devoted to those he loved.<\/p>\n

\u2018He\u2019s the kindest person I\u2019ve ever met in my life,\u2019 close friend Kris Roberts said. \u2018I\u2019ll forever love him no matter what.\u2019<\/p>\n
