ROSWELL, Ga. \u2014 A metro Atlanta family is asking for community support after a\u00a0man died while saving a child\u00a0struggling in the Chattahoochee River.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Frank Young never resurfaced after he helped bring the child safely to shore on the night of Wednesday, July 2. Roswell first responders searched for his body for hours, ultimately recovering him near Garrard Landing Park later that night.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Family members described Young as a loving husband, father, and beloved uncle who was a hero.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cHis passing has left a permanent mark not just on those who knew him, but on an entire community, a reminder of the power of selflessness,\u201d family members said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

According to his family, Young answered the cries of a mother and a young child of a family friend.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThe family, in this moment, is going through a lot of pain, especially his only son, who doesn\u2019t have enough money to cover the funeral expenses,\u201d the family said in an online fundraiser.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
