Camp Mystic counselor Katherine Ferruzzo confirmed dead in Texas Hill Country floods, family says<\/p>\n

The body of Katherine Ferruzzo, a recent graduate of Memorial High School, was recovered Friday, according to a statement from her family.<\/div>\n

KERR COUNTY, Texas<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Katherine Ferruzzo, a Camp Mystic counselor who had been unaccounted for a week after the deadly\u00a0Hill Country floods, was confirmed dead on Friday, her family announced.<\/p>\n

She was the last Camp Mystic counselor to be found.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are incredibly grateful to all the search and rescue professionals and volunteers who have remained steadfast in their efforts to locate the victims of this tragedy,\u201d the family said in a statement. \u201cWe would especially like to thank the Texas Rangers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ferruzzo was from the Houston area, according to\u00a0multiple reports.<\/p>\n

She was a recent graduate at Memorial High School and had been accepted to the University of Texas at Austin for the fall 2025 semester. She planned to become a special education teacher, her family said.<\/p>\n

To honor her memory, the family announced plans to establish the Katherine Ferruzzo Legacy Foundation. The foundation will focus on supporting those with special needs and learning differences, the statement read.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are heartbroken for the other families and pray for all who have been affected,\u201d the family said in the statement.<\/p>\n

At least\u00a027 Camp Mystic campers and counselors, along with longtime owner\u00a0Richard \u201cDick\u201d Eastland, have been confirmed dead due to the July 4 floods.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
