According to police, surfers leapt to action after spotting the\u00a0late actor, best known for his role of Theo Huxtable in sitcom\u00a0The Cosby Show, and his little girl \u2018struggling\u2019 in the ocean after getting caught by a rip current.<\/p>\n

After diving in to help, law enforcement told ABC News that one surfer \u2018used his board to bring Warner\u2019s daughter to safety and a volunteer lifeguard pulled Warner\u00a0 and another surfer to shore.\u2019<\/p>\n

Warner, who died of\u00a0asphyxia by submersion, was then\u00a0given 45 minutes of CPR.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, he could not be\u00a0revived and was\u00a0pronounced dead at the scene by authorities. He was 54.<\/p>\n

Prior to his passing, Warner made a conscious effort to keep his daughter and wife out of the spotlight, apart from the occasional social media post.<\/p>\n

For privacy reasons, he chose\u00a0not to publicly disclose his daughter or wife\u2019s names.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week,\u00a0officials announced that a\u00a0man left in critical condition\u00a0was trying to save the actor.<\/p>\n

A spokesman for The Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) revealed the Good Samaritan had entered the water to help Warner after he was swept away by a rip current.<\/p>\n

A statement obtained by\u00a0People\u00a0confirmed the unidentified 35-year-old man had no personal connection to the actor beforehand and was simply on the beach at the time Warner got into difficulty.<\/p>\n

Warner was swimming at Playa Cocles in Limon province when a current pulled him deeper into the ocean.<\/p>\n

First responders from Costa Rica\u2019s Red Cross found Warner without vital signs when they attended the scene of the \u2018water related incident\u2019 around 2.10pm on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Per the OIJ, Warner\u2019s body will be \u2018removed from the Judicial Morgue by a funeral service company hired and authorized by Mr. Warner\u2019s family.\u2019<\/p>\n

According to TMZ, his remains are scheduled to leave Costa Rica on Thursday and will arrive in Los Angeles on Friday morning<\/p>\n

A source told the outlet that the actor\u2019s body was \u2018turned over by the Judicial Morgue on Wednesday morning, following the completion of his autopsy.\u2019<\/p>\n

Following Warner\u2019s shock death, lifeguards from Playa Grande \u2014 a beach community located on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica \u2014 released a statement saying they were not present due to lack of \u2018resources.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018We deeply regret the passing of Malcolm-Jamal Warner at Playa Grande. He was swept away by a strong rip current and died by drowning,\u2019 the Caribbean Guard, Costa Rica\u2019s volunteer lifeguard association, shared via Facebook on Monday.<\/p>\n

\u2018It all happened very quickly, and although there were people on the beach who entered the water to rescue him, they did not arrive in time.\u2019<\/p>\n

The Guard added that Playa Grande is one of their \u2018most challenging beaches,\u2019 noting the presence of signs in English and Spanish that warn of the \u2018danger of death due to drowning.\u2019<\/p>\n

Though the Guard has patrolled there \u2018over the past few years,\u2019 they alleged that they were \u2018not present\u2019 at the time of Warner\u2019s death.<\/p>\n

\u2018Due to recent aquatic incidents in Playa Negra, we had redirected resources there and to Chiquita, another iconic beach known for its strong currents,\u2019 they shared in the statement.<\/p>\n

They then made an appeal to Costa Rica\u2019s president, Rodrigo Chaves Robles, and the government.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, the Costa Rican Red Cross received a 9-1-1 alert about a water incident at Playa Grande, Cahuita, Lim\u00f3n. In response, three ambulances were sent to the scene, as per Us Weekly.<\/p>\n

Costa Rica\u2019s Judicial Investigation Department told Us Weekly that their preliminary investigation indicated Warner \u2018appeared to have entered the sea and was apparently swept away by a current.\u2019<\/p>\n

Warner had been in Costa Rica since July 13.<\/p>\n

Warner was best known for his iconic role as Theodore Huxtable, the only son of Cliff Huxtable, on the beloved NBC sitcom The Cosby Show.<\/p>\n
