At least 11 people were stabbed in a bloody scene inside a Michigan Walmart Saturday night \u2014 causing terrified shoppers and employees to flee \u2014 before a brave armed citizen helped detain the knife-wielding maniac, according to police, witnesses and harrowing video.<\/p>\n

The terror unfolded around 5 p.m. when the alleged 42-year-old male attacker began randomly stabbing shoppers with a \u201cstandard\u201d folding knife in various sections of the big-box chain store in Traverse City, about 255 miles northwest of Detroit, Grand Traverse County Sheriff Michael Shea said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBased on the information that we have at this time, they were random acts,\u201d Shea told reporters at a press conference Saturday night, adding that the violent knifing is \u201cvery uncommon\u201d for the city.<\/p>\n

\u201cEleven [victims] is too many, but thank God it wasn\u2019t more.\u201d<\/p>\n

Six of the victims are in critical condition, with the other five in serious condition.<\/p>\n

Shea said the disturbing episode started near the store\u2019s checkout counter.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe whole store started screaming and running,\u201d employee Tasha Nash told\u00a0Channel2 Now.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was a guy with a knife \u2014 he stabbed six people. I saw someone stabbed in the eye.\u201d<\/p>\n

The knife-wielding monster was ultimately taken down by a pair of brave shoppers, including one who was armed, before authorities arrived and took him into custody,\u00a0according to police and witnesses.<\/p>\n

Video of the chaotic scene<\/a>\u00a0showed the unidentified suspect surrounded by shouting bystanders, including the armed good Samaritan.<\/p>\n
