DEF LEPPARD<\/b>\u00a0paid tribute to\u00a0Ozzy Osbourne<\/b>\u00a0by performing a cover of\u00a0BLACK SABBATH<\/b>\u2018s\u00a0\u201cChanges\u201d<\/b>\u00a0during last night\u2019s concert in Saratoga Springs, New York.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe all know just a few hours ago we lost our beloved\u00a0Ozzy Osbourne<\/b>,\u201d\u00a0DEF LEPPARD<\/b>\u00a0frontman\u00a0Joe Elliott<\/b>\u00a0said during the band\u2019s show at Saratoga Performing Arts Center. \u201cSo tonight we\u2019re celebrating\u00a0Ozzy<\/b>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cChanges\u201d<\/b>\u00a0originally appeared on\u00a0SABBATH<\/b>\u2018s 1972 album\u00a0\u201cVol. 4\u201d<\/b>, and was re-recorded by\u00a0Ozzy<\/b>\u00a0in 2003 as a duet with his daughter\u00a0Kelly<\/b>, featuring revised lyrics.<\/p>\n

Ozzy<\/b> died Tuesday morning (July 22),his family announced in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved\u00a0Ozzy Osbourne<\/b> has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time,\u201d the family said.<\/p>\n

No cause of death was given, but\u00a0Osbourne<\/b>\u00a0had battled a number of health issues over the past several years, including Parkinson\u2019s disease and injuries he sustained from a late-night fall in 2019.<\/p>\n

Ozzy<\/b>\u2018s death came a little more than two weeks after he took the stage for his final performance with\u00a0BLACK SABBATH<\/b>\u00a0at Villa Park in the band\u2019s original hometown of Birmingham, United Kingdom. They performed four songs for more than 40,000 people in the stadium and 5.8 million more on a livestream.\u00a0Ozzy<\/b> also played a five-song solo set while seated in a bat-adorned throne.<\/p>\n

The legendary\u00a0BLACK SABBATH<\/b>\u00a0frontman was diagnosed in 2003 with Parkin 2 \u2014 a very rare genetic form of Parkinson\u2019s. During a TV appearance in January 2020, the singer disclosed that he was \u2018stricken\u201d with the disease which occurs when the nerve cells of the body degenerate and levels of dopamine are reduced. Dopamine is an essential chemical that is produced by these nerve cells which send signals to different parts of the brain to control movements of the body.<\/p>\n

Ozzy<\/b>\u2018s health issues, including suffering a nasty fall and dislodging metal rods placed in his spine following a quad-bike accident in 2003, as well as catching COVID-19 three years ago, forced him to cancel some of his previously announced tours.<\/p>\n

Despite his health problems,\u00a0Osbourne<\/b>\u00a0had performed a couple of times in the last three years, including at the\u00a0Commonwealth Games<\/b>\u00a0in Birmingham in August 2022 and at the\u00a0NFL<\/b>\u00a0halftime show at the season opener\u00a0Los Angeles Rams<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0Buffalo Bills<\/b>\u00a0game in September 2022.<\/p>\n
