On Wednesday, the Prince of Darkness was honoured with a public parade in\u00a0Birmingham<\/span>, with thousands lining the streets to pay their respects while the family laid flowers and read tributes.<\/p>\n

Now the star is set to be buried in an intimate family funeral on Thursday, after the Daily Mail revealed last week that Sharon\u00a0wanted to bury Ozzy\u00a0in the gardens of their 350-acre Buckinghamshire estate<\/span>.<\/p>\n

While the resting place may seem unusual, an unearthed extract from the rocker\u2019s 2009 autobiography,\u00a0I Am Ozzy, has revealed that the Prince of Darkness had expressed this wish to Sharon years before his death.<\/p>\n

In the tome, Ozzy was musing on the subject of death as he penned: \u2018Don\u2019t get me wrong: I don\u2019t worry about that kind of heavy-duty stuff on a daily basis.<\/p>\n

\u2018I\u2019ve come to believe that everything in life is worked out in advance. So whenever bad s**t happens, there ain\u2019t nothing you can do about it. You\u2019ve just gotta ride it out. And eventually death will come, like it comes to everyone.<\/p>\n

\u2018I\u2019ve said to Sharon: \u201cDon\u2019t cremate me, whatever you do?\u201d I want to be put in the ground, in a nice garden somewhere, with a tree planted over my head.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018If I close my eyes, I can already see it: Ozzy Osbourne, born 1948. Died, whenever. He bit the head off a bat.\u2019<\/p>\n

Last week, Sharon\u2019s friends feared the X Factor star would be\u00a0\u2018too frail\u2019 to go through a larger, public service.<\/p>\n

They told the Daily Mail: \u2018I don\u2019t know if she will feel strong enough to have a big memorial for all the people who want to say goodbye to him.<\/p>\n

\u2018We think she may want to bury him privately at home, in the garden.\u2019<\/p>\n

This is what Sandra Cash, the widow of rock guitarist Jeff Beck, did for her husband when he died suddenly of bacterial meningitis in January 2023.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, the family gathered in Ozzy\u2019s hometown of Birmingham to pay their respects.<\/p>\n

Huge crowds lined the streets and led chants of \u2018Ozzy, Ozzy, Ozzy, Oi, Oi, Oi!\u2019 as well as singing Black Sabbath songs as they waited for the hearse to arrive.<\/p>\n

In heartbreaking images, Sharon was struggling to compose herself, shaking as she held onto her daughter Kelly\u2019s hand while weeping.<\/p>\n

Upon hearing the crowd cheer, she threw up a double peace sign \u2013 a gesture which has become synonymous with the late metal star.<\/p>\n

Ozzy previously revealed he didn\u2019t want his funeral to be a sad occasion but a time to say \u2018thanks\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u2018There\u2019ll be no harping on the bad times,\u2019 he told\u00a0The Times<\/a> back in 2011.<\/p>\n

\u2018It\u2019s worth remembering that a lot of people see nothing but misery their whole lives, so by any measure, most of us in this country \u2014 especially rock stars like me \u2014 are very lucky.<\/p>\n

\u2018That\u2019s why I don\u2019t want my funeral to be sad, I want it to be a time to say \u201dthanks\u201d\u2019<\/p>\n

Ozzy insisted he wanted it to be a celebration rather than a \u2018mope-fest\u2019 and that he didn\u2019t care what music was played as long as it made his loved ones happy.<\/p>\n

\u2018I honestly don\u2019t care what they play at my funeral; they can put on a medley of\u00a0Justin Bieber<\/a><\/span>,\u00a0Susan Boyle<\/a><\/span>\u00a0and We Are the Diddymen if it makes \u2019em happy,\u2019 he quipped.<\/p>\n

Known for his humour, Ozzy joked he\u2019d like to play a prank to make people smile, such as a playing a video of him asking a doctor for a second opinion on his death.<\/p>\n

However, in another interview a few years later, Ozzy narrowed down his song choice to A Day In The Life by The Beatles.<\/p>\n

Ozzy has previously credited The Beatles for inspiring him to become a musician himself, revealing he became an avid fan after hearing their 1964 hit\u00a0She Loves You.<\/p>\n

When asked about his funeral song, Ozzy insisted he would want a Beatles number being played rather than any of his own music on the day.<\/p>\n

\u2018I really need a few more years to think this over, but probably something from \u2018Sgt. Pepper\u2019s Lonely Hearts Club Band or Revolver,\u2019 he told\u00a0NME\u00a0in 2016.<\/p>\n

The rock star died on July 22 with his family confirming the news in a statement.<\/p>\n
