Trump-Led Kennedy Center Announces Honorees<\/h2>\n

Each year, the\u00a0Kennedy Center Honors\u00a0individuals\u00a0\u201cwhose work has shaped our cultural landscape,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0with emphasis on how their life has furthered\u00a0\u201cthe power of the arts.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

On the night before the announcement, the Kennedy Center\u00a0posted clues on X, formerly Twitter, as to who was going to be honored in 2025, saying,\u00a0\u201cA country music icon, an Englishman, a New York City Rock band, a dance Queen and a multi-billion dollar Actor walk into the Kennedy Center Opera House.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The reveal was made on Wednesday, August 13, by\u00a0President Donald Trump, who is chair of the Kennedy Center Board of Trustees.<\/p>\n

The 48th class of Kennedy Center Honorees includes:<\/p>\n

  • Country artist\u00a0George Strait<\/li>\n
  • Stage actor Michael Crawford<\/li>\n
  • Film actor Sylvester Stallone<\/li>\n
  • Disco singer Gloria Gaynor<\/li>\n
  • Rock band KISS<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Trump\u2019s Remarks On George Strait<\/h2>\n

    Trump began his remarks by noting that the 48th Kennedy Center Honors would go\u00a0\u201crapidly, relatively inexpensively, and will make it better than it ever was.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

    He then stated he has been\u00a0\u201casked to host\u201d<\/em>\u00a0the event, which will be televised on CBS on December 22, adding,\u00a0\u201cSo I have agreed to host. Can you believe what I have to do?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

    Presidents typically attend the Kennedy Center Honors, but Trump never attended the ceremony during his first term as president.<\/p>\n

    Moving to the honorees, Trump announced\u00a0George Strait\u2019s selection, stating,\u00a0\u201cOver an extraordinary four-decade career, George has sold more than 120 million records worldwide, amassed 60 No. 1 hits \u2014 wow \u2014 and produced 33 platinum-certified albums, more than any other living American.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

    He added,\u00a0\u201cThis is amazing.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

    Continuing, Trump said,\u00a0\u201cHe is believed by millions of people to be just as good as you can get. He is beloved by hundreds of millions of people all over the world \u2026 they call him the \u2018King of Country.\u2019\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
