They didn\u2019t flinch or bolt like deer normally do. They simply stood there, silent and unafraid, the smaller one fixing me with an unblinking stare as if it knew something I didn\u2019t. I snapped a photo and joked online about \u201cunexpected visitors,\u201d never imagining what would happen next.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"510\" data-end=\"863\">The smaller deer approached the fence and dropped a bundle at my feet\u2014a dark fabric-wrapped parcel that felt deliberate, human. Inside was an old wooden box holding a tarnished silver locket etched with strange, unrecognizable symbols. Before I could react, the deer turned back toward the woods, pausing as though waiting for me to follow. And I did.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"865\" data-end=\"1295\">The forest grew unnaturally quiet as I trailed it to a hidden clearing dominated by a massive, twisted oak. Beneath its roots, freshly disturbed soil concealed a stone tablet carved with the same symbols and a hollow containing a sealed parchment.
