The actor, who had been scheduled to appear alongside the cast for the show\u2019s 20th anniversary, spent the evening in the hospital receiving stitches instead of walking the red carpet.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"370\" data-end=\"786\">ALS, or <strong data-start=\"378\" data-end=\"411\">amyotrophic lateral sclerosis<\/strong>, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that gradually affects muscle control. Dane publicly revealed his diagnosis in April 2025, describing it as \u201ca nasty disease\u201d during an interview with <em data-start=\"607\" data-end=\"628\">The Washington Post<\/em>. Despite the setback, his co-star <strong data-start=\"663\" data-end=\"681\">Jesse Williams<\/strong> presented an award on his behalf, telling <em data-start=\"724\" data-end=\"747\">Entertainment Tonight<\/em>, \u201cHe\u2019s solid. The man\u2019s just solid.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"788\" data-end=\"1238\">Since sharing his diagnosis, Dane has become a passionate <strong data-start=\"846\" data-end=\"889\">advocate for ALS research and awareness<\/strong>. In September, he met with lawmakers in Washington, D.C., urging the renewal of the <strong data-start=\"974\" data-end=\"989\">ACT for ALS<\/strong>, legislation that funds research into treatments for neurodegenerative conditions. He\u2019s spoken openly about his symptoms, admitting that his right side has stopped functioning while his left side continues to weaken \u2014 a truth he calls \u201csobering.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1240\" data-end=\"1652\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Even in the face of such challenges, Dane remains grounded in gratitude. Surrounded by family, he continues to focus on both advocacy and acting, telling <em data-start=\"1394\" data-end=\"1402\">People<\/em> magazine that he\u2019s \u201cgrateful for the love and support\u201d he\u2019s received. The actor also confirmed he looks forward to returning to the set of <em data-start=\"1542\" data-end=\"1552\">Euphoria<\/em> for its highly anticipated third season \u2014 a reminder of his
