His father labored for the railways, his mother raised the children in the <strong data-start=\"293\" data-end=\"311\">Catholic faith<\/strong>, and their home seemed, from the outside, like any other in the American Southwest.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"399\" data-end=\"725\">Behind closed doors, though, life was anything but normal. His father\u2019s violent temper turned their home into a place of constant fear. The boy endured <strong data-start=\"551\" data-end=\"570\">severe beatings<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"575\" data-end=\"601\">multiple head injuries<\/strong> before the age of six, leading to <strong data-start=\"636\" data-end=\"662\">temporal lobe epilepsy<\/strong> later in life \u2014 damage that would have lasting consequences.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"727\" data-end=\"1030\">His father\u2019s cruelty bordered on the unthinkable. As punishment, he would <strong data-start=\"801\" data-end=\"844\">tie the boy to a crucifix in a cemetery<\/strong>, leaving him terrified and alone through the night. These experiences carved deep emotional and psychological scars into a child who was already desperate for affection and stability.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1032\" data-end=\"1366\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">By just ten years old, the boy had turned to <strong data-start=\"1077\" data-end=\"1102\">alcohol and marijuana<\/strong> to numb his pain \u2014 the beginning of a lifelong spiral into violence and depravity. He would grow up to become <strong data-start=\"1213\" data-end=\"1232\">Richard Ramirez<\/strong>, the notorious \u201c<strong data-start=\"1249\" data-end=\"1266\">Night Stalker<\/strong>,\u201d
