As the federal government shutdown entered its 38th day<\/strong>, President Donald Trump<\/strong> called on Senate Republicans to abolish Obamacare<\/strong> and redirect federal health-care spending \u201cdirectly to the people<\/strong>,\u201d escalating tensions in an already gridlocked Congress.<\/p>\n

In a series of posts on Truth Social<\/strong>, Trump blasted the Affordable Care Act, writing:<\/p>\n

\u201cHundreds of Billions of Dollars currently being sent to money-sucking Insurance Companies \u2026 should be sent directly to the people so they can purchase their own, much better, healthcare \u2014 and have money left over.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

He urged Republicans to \u201cterminate the Filibuster<\/strong>,\u201d which currently requires a 60-vote supermajority for most legislation, arguing that the Senate should act swiftly to end Obamacare and restore government operations.<\/p>\n

The remarks came as Senate negotiations collapsed<\/strong> on a proposal that would have temporarily reopened several federal agencies. Democrats have refused to support any funding bill that does not preserve or extend ACA subsidies, while Republicans insist those talks wait until after the government reopens.<\/p>\n

The shutdown \u2014 now the longest in U.S. history<\/strong> \u2014 has begun causing nationwide disruptions, including airline delays<\/strong>, unpaid air traffic controllers<\/strong>, and uncertainty over SNAP food assistance payments<\/strong>, which remain tangled in legal disputes.
