Fox News host Bill Hemmer analyzed the result during an election-night appearance on Sean Hannity\u2019s program. Hemmer argued that Paxton\u2019s victory demonstrated the continuing influence of Trump\u2019s endorsement among Republican primary voters. Trump endorsed Paxton shortly before the runoff, describing him as a strong supporter of the MAGA movement.<\/p>\n
The financial difference between the two campaigns made the result particularly striking. Cornyn and the outside groups supporting him spent heavily throughout the primary and runoff, while Paxton operated with considerably fewer resources. Paxton\u2019s victory represents a major defeat for the Republican establishment and another sign that Trump-aligned candidates continue to hold considerable influence within the party.
