Suspicious, my daughter Chloe followed him and later returned with his leather bag, which contained photographs, a music box, and memory cards.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The truth was completely different from what we expected. Richard had been leaving early to visit his 86-year-old mother, Evelyn, who lived in a memory-care facility and had dementia. She often became frightened at night and sometimes forgot who he was.<\/p>\n<p>Richard had hidden the situation because a previous relationship had ended over the responsibility of caring for his mother.
