This loan is part of a larger $50 billion G7 support package and arrives as Biden prepares to leave the White House.<\/p>\n

The loan comes at a crucial time for Ukraine, as Trump has expressed a desire to end the war and reduce U.S. aid. Trump has questioned the financial support for Ukraine since Russia\u2019s 2022 invasion, stating he may reduce aid.<\/p>\n

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen emphasized that these funds will support Ukraine\u2019s defense and critical services. The loan follows Trump\u2019s meeting with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy in Paris, where they discussed strengthening Ukraine’s defense.<\/p>\n
