Everyone is born unique and beautiful in their own way. One of the most wonderful things about being human is that no two people are the same, and we are increasingly learning to embrace and celebrate our differences.<\/p>\n

Nicole Lucas Hallson, a mother of two, is raising her son Asher and daughter Winry. She is also on a mission to show that imperfections make us perfect and to remind the world that her daughter, born with a rare birthmark, is beautiful just as she is.<\/p>\n

Winry has congenital melanocytic nevi (CMN), a rare birthmark that covers a quarter of her face. Nicole, a teacher, was shocked when she first saw the mark after Winry\u2019s birth in February 2021. She initially thought it was a bruise, but soon realized it resembled a mole, leading to worries about potential harm.<\/p>\n

CMN can appear as brown or black patches and can vary in size. Nicole and her partner now embrace Winry\u2019s uniqueness, aiming to show others that being different should be celebrated, not hidden. Nicole enjoys sharing Winry’s story to spark conversations about differences, particularly for children with similar birthmarks.<\/p>\n

Although Winry\u2019s birthmark may increase the risk of skin cancer, Nicole is more concerned about potential bullying as she grows older. The family takes precautions, like using sunscreen and monitoring her skin. Despite this, Winry is a happy, energetic child who radiates joy.<\/p>\n

Nicole describes Winry as a talkative and lively little girl with a bit of sass. Nicole and her family are committed to highlighting Winry\u2019s beauty and encouraging others to celebrate differences.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
