After overhearing Dad call Mom “lazy” and mock her cooking, my brother Seth and I decided to teach him a lesson. We turned our simple Christmas gift list into “Operation Outplay” to show Dad how much Mom deserved better.<\/p>\n

We emailed family members, asking them to gift Mom things she’d love\u2014like a designer purse and a spa day\u2014while requesting fishing rods for Dad. On Christmas, Mom was overwhelmed with heartfelt gifts, while Dad received five fishing rods. When he complained, we revealed that his comments about Mom had inspired our plan. Mom, clearly hurt, called him out, and he spent the rest of the day sulking.<\/p>\n
