Five years ago, my ex-fianc\u00e9, Mark, ended our engagement, telling me I \u201cwasn\u2019t good enough\u201d after he got promoted and wanted someone \u201cmore sophisticated.\u201d It stung, but I eventually moved on. Fast forward to last Saturday, I spotted Mark dining at a high-end restaurant with a new woman. I knew it was the perfect opportunity for a little payback.<\/p>\n

I sent over a bottle of champagne with a note reading, \u201cTo Mark, who always settles for second best.\u201d His face turned bright red, while his date looked completely confused. It was a moment of pure satisfaction. But I didn\u2019t stop there\u2014I knew Mark had a food allergy, so I sent over an appetizer he couldn\u2019t eat, with another note: \u201cJust a reminder of what you can\u2019t have.\u201d Watching him try to explain it to his increasingly annoyed date was priceless.<\/p>\n
