However, his gesture\u2014pounding his chest and raising his arm toward the sky\u2014sparked controversy, with some comparing it to a Nazi salute. The incident drew criticism on social media, with users posting comments like, \u201cElon Musk just did a Nazi salute on national television.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>CNN anchors also noted the gesture\u2019s resemblance to historical salutes. The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) defines the Nazi salute as \u201craising an outstretched right arm with the palm down.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Musk responded to the accusations on his platform, X, dismissing them as part of a \u201cdirty tricks campaign\u201d by political opponents.
