Country icons Wynonna Judd and Trisha Yearwood recently took center stage at the Grand Ole Opry, singing their rendition of “Cry Myself To Sleep.”

Initially showcased as a segment in a televised special tribute to The Judds, their Opry performance later took the forefront when it was broadcasted on The Kelly Clarkson Show, bringing the two country legends to daytime television.

Wynonna and Trisha’s Rendition of “Cry Myself To Sleep”

The song, originally written by Paul Kennerley and recorded by the iconic country music duo The Judds, holds a special place in the hearts of fans. The special performance of the song follows Wynonna and Trisha’s latest endeavor, where the collaboration between the two first appeared on A Tribute To The Judds, a compilation album created to honor the legacy of Wynonna’s mother, Naomi, that was released in October.

Infusing elements of Rock and Country into their rendition, Wynonna and Trisha showcased their incredible musical talent as they put a newfound sound behind the classic country song. Wynonna and Trisha’s rendition pays homage to the enduring legacy of The Judds, capturing the essence of the original while adding a contemporary twist.

“Cry Myself to Sleep” originally hit the airwaves in September 1986 as the fourth single from The Judds’ album Rockin’ with the Rhythm. The song quickly climbed up the charts, becoming their eighth number one country hit.

Wynonna and Trisha initially hinted at their upcoming duet during CMA Fest in June last year. In a video shared on X by an audience member, Trisha and Wynonna excitedly informed the crowd about their special project they were working on. Trisha expressed the excitement of singing with Wynonna, who she says has the ability to “elevate your game to another level” when recording in the studio.
