A 17-year-old country singer stepped onto The Voice stage, nerves in check but fire in their soul. The moment they opened their mouth, time stood still. Their voice wasn’t just good—it was raw, honest, and cut straight to the heart, like a knife through glass. The coaches were frozen, hanging onto every note, their faces shifting from curiosity to pure awe. And then—BAM! The chairs spun, one after the other, as the power of that voice proved undeniable. By the end, the entire room knew they had just witnessed something unforgettable.

17-Year-Old Country Singer Wows ‘The Voice’ Coaches With Powerful Cover Of “Religiously”

Season 27 of The Voice is moving quickly and the Blind Auditions have officially wrapped up. Coaches Michael Bublé, John Legend, Adam Levine, and Kelsea Ballerini now have their teams set and are ready to take on the Battle Rounds next.

As the competition moves into the next phase, one contestant is already seeing a lot of praise online. 17-year-old Trevon Dawson has gone viral for his Blind Audition, where he blew all four coaches away with his cover of Bailey Zimmerman’s “Religiously.”

Bailey Zimmerman released his hit song “Religiously” in March 2023 as the third single to his debut studio album. The track reached the No.1 spot on the Billboard Country Airplay chart and has earned a 2x Platinum certification from the RIAA.

When Dawson took the stage for his audition, he immediately grabbed everyone’s attention as soon as he started singing. For someone of his age, his voice had a rasp and depth that made him sound way more experienced.

This season hasn’t seen many country artists audition, so when Dawson began his performance, Coach Adam Levine was especially excited since he still had one spot left to fill on his team.

“You’re going to get a country artist,” Kelsea Ballerini exclaimed to Levine. “It’s fate!” she added.

It only took a few seconds for Levine to hit his button and turn his chair for Dawson.

The coaches couldn’t stop complimenting him for his performance. Coach Bublé even got up to hug the young singer.

“If that’s how you sound when you’re a little nervous, this dude just got a massive score,” he said referring to Levine.

Levine described Dawson’s voice as so sharp that it “cuts like a knife.”

Trevon Dawson’s Blind Audition Is Going Viral

It’s not just the coaches who were impressed by the Missouri native’s soulful country voice. Dawson’s audition has since gone viral online, with many people already predicting that he’s going to win it all.

“He’s going to go far… The next Morgan Wallen,” one person wrote on TikTok.

“What?! He’s only 17? He’s just a kid! He sounds like a seasoned country artist!” another exclaimed.

“Did we just listen to the winner of this season?” someone questioned.

The audition even caught the eyes of Bailey Zimmerman, who left a supportive comment for Dawson.

“HE FREAKING CRUSHED THIS,” Zimmerman wrote accompanied with a fire emoji.
