Rising country trio The Castellows took on one of rock’s most iconic songs, delivering a powerful tribute to Heart with their rendition of Crazy on You. With raw energy and stunning harmonies, the sisters channeled the spirit of Ann and Nancy Wilson while adding their own Southern flair to the classic hit. Their performance was a thrilling blend of country and rock, proving that some songs—and some talents—transcend genres.

Given the power of social media, many singers gained their start in the music industry thanks to platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. Although not the first to do it, The Castellows, consisting of sisters Eleanor, Powell, and Lily Balkcom, first caught the eye of country music when they uploaded cover songs to the internet. And back in 2023, they landed a record deal with Warner Music Nashville. That deal led to their first EP, A Little Goes a Long Way, in 2024. Continuing to expand their stardom in country music, The Castellows recently paid tribute to Heart with a special performance of “Crazy on You.”

During the late 1970s, Heart released their debut album with Dreamboat Annie. Among the songs featured on the album was “Crazy on You.” Taking over airwaves all over the world, the song became a signature for the group and even appeared in films like Captain Marvel and Guardian of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Holding a spot in music for over five decades, The Castellows posted a video of Eleanor perfecting the song with an acoustic guitar.

Although not part of their usual concert, fans loved watching The Castellows branch into other genres. “Absolutely one of the best guitar intros by anyone/man or woman.” Even The Castellows gushed over the performance, writing in the caption, “Before we play Hurricane at our shows Ellie always plays this acoustic guitar intro to ‘Crazy On You’ by Heart! Ann and Nancy Wilson are such big inspirations.”

The Castellows Land Hit With “Girl That Boy”

As for their own discography, The Castellows teased the new song “Girl That Boy” back in December. While the song surrounded dating advice and struggles that come with finding love, the ending came with a lyrical flip that left fans shocked. Speaking about the new hit, Ellie said, “People will talk to me about our songs and be like, ‘Oh, I love what you meant when you did that lyric.’ I’m like, ‘That’s not what I meant, that’s not what I was intending.’ But also seeing alternate meanings from what other people have [imagined] is so cool.”

With “Girl That Boy” written by a handful of writers, Kendall Marvel found the perfect voices with The Castellows. Discussing their work on the song, he said, “They were super-smart, you can tell – very respectful and just talented musicians, so far ahead of their time for their age. I was really blown away by how grown up they were with their songwriting. And I just had that title, ‘Girl That Boy,’ and had this idea on what I thought it should be, and I thought they were the right artists for it.”

While spending only a few years in the music industry, the future continues to look bright for The Castellows.
