Disney CEO Bob Iger and ABC News President Almin Karamehmedovic have reportedly encouraged “The View” co-hosts to reduce their political attacks on President Donald Trump. The guidance, relayed through executive producer Brian Teta, included a push to balance political segments with lighter content. Tensions reportedly followed, especially after co-hosts were required to read legal disclaimers on-air.
Pushback from Hosts Over Political Shift
According to sources, co-hosts like Ana Navarro resisted the changes, arguing that their viewers expect strong political commentary, particularly given today’s political climate. While the suggestion to focus more on lifestyle and celebrity content wasn’t a strict mandate, the hosts largely continued with their usual format.
Disney’s Legal Disputes with Trump Intensify
The shift comes amid legal friction between Disney and Donald Trump. In December, Disney paid a $16 million settlement, including $15 million toward Trump’s presidential library, after a defamation lawsuit over mischaracterized comments by ABC anchor George Stephanopoulos.
Broader Media Fallout Continues
Trump is also suing CBS and Paramount Global for $20 billion over a “60 Minutes” segment involving then-Vice President Kamala Harris. The backlash has already led to the retirement of top CBS executives, as the network seeks to protect its merger plans with Skydance Media.
