“We’re Adding Another Little Voice to the Choir” — American Idol Star Scotty McCreery and Wife Gabi Share Sweet Baby News From high school sweethearts to growing family, Scotty and Gabi McCreery just made hearts melt with a tender announcement: baby number two is on the way! The country crooner and his beloved wife are expecting again — and fans couldn’t be happier to watch their next chapter begin.

Congratulations to Scotty and Gabi McCreery! The American Idol champ and his wife are expecting their second child.

Scotty and Gabi McCreery announced Thursday (May 22) that their family is growing! According to a social media post, their second child is due this fall and will be joining big brother, 2 1/2-year-old Avery.

“A new best friend coming this fall,” the couple captioned a series of photos. The proud parents are seen wearing blue jeans and white t-shirts, while Avery sports a “big brother” sweatshirt.

Scotty McCreery married his wife in 2018.

Scotty McCreery and Gabi Dugal said “I do” on June 16, 2018, after dating for six years. Their stunning ceremony took place in the mountains of North Carolina, McCreery’s home state.

McCreery, who won American Idol‘s 10th season in 2011, detailed his and Gabi’s love story and proposal in his song “This Is It.”

The couple welcomed their first child, Merrick Avery, in 2022. Their son was named after Gabi’s father, Merrick Dugal, but is called by his middle name.

Scotty McCreery’s baby news comes on the heels of a new song release.

Earlier this month, McCreery and iconic rock band Hootie & the Blowfish teamed up for an epic collaboration. The country star enlisted the Darius Rucker-led ’90s band to record “Bottle Rockets.” In the tune, Hootie & the Blowfish revisit their 1994 hit “Hold My Hand.”

Scotty reached out to longtime friend Darius Rucker to asked if he and the band would like to be a part of the new song. The result was even better than Scotty had hoped for.

“I think that’s one of my favorite things about the song,” McCreery said. “It’s not a sample of ‘Hold My Hand.’ Hootie & the Blowfish, all the guys went back in there in the studio and re-recorded their parts for ‘Bottle Rockets’ to make it happen.”
