Country’s favorite troublemaker made a loud return to the show that helped define his legacy. Blake Shelton didn’t just sing “Texas” — he brought the house down with it. The rowdy anthem had the crowd stomping and fans across the country cranking up the volume. But the real surprise? “Texas” just set a new career milestone for Shelton, racking up more first-week radio adds than any song he’s ever released. If this is his comeback… it’s coming in hot.

Blake Shelton’s Latest Single Has Experienced Texas-Sized Success

Blake Shelton came home to The Voice to share his latest single, “Texas,” during the Season 27 finale.

Shelton released “Texas” in November 2024 as the lead single from his latest album, For Recreational Use Only. Written by Johnny Clawson, Josh Dorr, Kyle Sturrock, and Lalo Guzman, the track offers a nod to George Strait and his iconic hit “All My Ex’s (Live in Texas).”

The catchy track caught on fast with Shelton’s fans. “Texas” helped him set a personal record, as the song earned the most first-week radio adds of his entire career.

Then, in May, “Texas” finally hit #1. In doing so, it became the 30th chart-topping hit of Shelton’s career.

“Thirty is a lot of anything, and to have 30 number one songs is unbelievable, and I’m really trying to take it all in,” Shelton said.

Blake Returns To The Voice Two Years After Stepping Down From His Coaching Role

Over the past few months, Shelton has shared “Texas” on multiple programs, including The Kelly Clarkson Show and the 60th ACM Awards. Most recently, he performed the rowdy track during a special appearance on the Season 27 finale of The Voice.

Shelton previously served as a coach on The Voice from Season 1 through Season 23 (which ended in 2023). After coaching for 12 years and winning nine times, Shelton made the choice to step back from The Voice to spend more time with his family.

But Shelton is still part of the Voice family! That’s why fans were thrilled when it was announced that he and another former coach, Kelly Clarkson, would perform during the Season 27 finale on May 20.

Blake performed in front of a very Texas-like scene on The Voice. The stage was lit in desert hues, with images of oil rigs in the background and a small “building” onstage with a “Texas” sign on top. The energy in the room was at an all-time high, as the crowd was visibly thrilled to see Blake back on the show again.
