Donald Trump has announced new travel bans affecting 19 countries, citing national security risks. Nations like Iran, Libya, and Yemen face full entry bans, while others like Venezuela and Cuba will see partial restrictions. Trump also warned Egypt may be added after an Egyptian national allegedly attacked pro-Israel protesters in Colorado.
In a video, Trump said the U.S. can’t accept migrants from countries it can’t properly vet. He ordered officials to review Egypt’s screening systems, stressing that foreign nationals must be fully vetted before entering the U.S.
The policy revives elements of Trump’s earlier travel bans and adds stricter measures. Officials like Marco Rubio and Pam Bondi helped craft the new rules, which target countries with high visa overstays or poor cooperation on deportations.
Trump included an exemption for athletes attending events like the 2028 Olympics. Critics call the bans discriminatory, but Trump insists they’re necessary to protect Americans from threats.
