Elon Musk is not being pushed out of the Trump administration, says Vice President JD Vance. He explained Musk’s role as a special advisor to the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) was always meant to last just six months. That term is ending as planned in May or June.
Even after stepping down, Musk will still help behind the scenes. Vance said he’ll stay on as an informal advisor, especially for tech and reform policies. DOGE will keep running using the systems Musk helped create.
Musk faced backlash from protestors and was even targeted by a fake AI audio clip of Vance. Vance confirmed the clip was false and said legal action may follow. He added critics are more political than factual.
Musk will now return focus to Tesla, SpaceX, and his other businesses. Still, Vance hinted Musk could be called back for future projects. “This is just the beginning,” he said.
