White mom going viral after birth of Black baby, but husband is white

The birth of baby Cash Jamal Buckman on February 17, 2024, to Rachel and her fiancé Paul Buckman in Tennessee quickly went viral—not for celebration, but controversy. Both parents are white, while baby Cash appeared to be Black, sparking widespread speculation online.

The truck stop where Rachel worked initially congratulated the couple on Facebook, later editing the post to claim Rachel had African American ancestry and the baby might have jaundice. Still, online commenters remained skeptical, with many questioning Paul’s paternity and mocking the explanation.

Rachel shared her ancestry results to prove her claim, but public doubt persisted. As the story spread across TikTok and meme pages, Celina 52 Truck Stop announced that polygraph and DNA tests were underway, later revealing the results on March 24 via The Steve Wilkos Show—Paul was not the biological father.

Despite the revelation, Paul chose to stay and raise Cash. The truck stop ended their final statement with: “Paul, you are NOT the father, but you ARE the dad,” turning a viral scandal into an unexpected story of loyalty and chosen family.
