GOP’s Brandon Gill Calls For Deporting Ilhan Omar Back To Somalia

Texas Congressman Brandon Gill stirred major controversy after demanding that Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar be deported to Somalia. He shared a video online where Omar was advising Somali immigrants—possibly undocumented—on how to handle encounters with immigration officers, telling them not to disclose personal information and to cite legal advice. Gill’s post declared that “America would be a better place” without her, sparking outrage and support across social media.

The video, originally shared by a conservative influencer, was interpreted by some as Omar encouraging illegal activity. Gill’s followers called for her expulsion from Congress and even a criminal investigation. Doubling down, Gill’s office claimed the U.S. should never have let Omar in, accusing her of helping undocumented immigrants evade enforcement.

The controversy came just as the Trump administration prepared a tough new wave of immigration raids. Incoming “border czar” Tom Homan confirmed ICE would target all undocumented immigrants, though criminals would remain the top priority. He warned that sanctuary cities would see more arrests, especially collateral ones—people swept up simply for being nearby.

In a tense CNN interview, Homan defended the harsh measures, saying those with criminal backgrounds “should be afraid.” Asked if ICE would avoid churches or schools, he said no place was off-limits if safety was at stake. The administration’s zero-tolerance policy is gaining momentum—and fueling heated debates like the one surrounding Rep. Oma
