Richard Goodall Middle School Janitor Returns to Work and Rocks the World with His Performance of ‘Wanted Dead or Alive’

For over 23 years, Richard Goodall has been more than just a janitor at Chauncey Rose Middle School in Terre Haute, Indiana. His journey started three blocks from his home, and today, he continues his dedicated work at West Vigo Middle School. But there’s more to Goodall than his role as a custodian—he’s also a passionate musician with a voice that can rock any stage

Goodall’s students were the driving force behind his decision to audition for a talent show. They recognized his incredible vocal talent and urged him to share it with the world. “The kids would hear me sing, and they told me I’ve got talent,” Goodall recalls. “That’s why I’m here.”

Before his breakthrough performance on America’s Got Talent (AGT), Goodall turned to the classic rock sounds of Journey, Foreigner, and Survivor to steady his nerves. “Their music centers me, calms me down, and lets me know that I am okay,” he shared.

Alongside his friend Tom Greenberg and two other members, the band is known for its powerful renditions of both classic and modern rock anthems. Their performances are celebrated for tackling songs that many wouldn’t dare attempt.

One such performance is Goodall’s cover of Bon Jovi’s “Wanted Dead or Alive,” where he transforms the school hallways into his very own rock stage. His voice echoes through the halls, filling them with the spirit of rock ‘n’ roll and leaving everyone who hears it feeling like a total badass.
