The crowd expected a love song — they didn’t expect to hear his vows. Blake Shelton stunned CMA Fest 2025 when he stood under the lights, eyes misty, and performed a brand-new song he wrote for Gwen Stefani — the very one he sang during their wedding. With each lyric, the stadium fell silent, swept into a moment meant for two, but shared with thousands. It wasn’t just a performance; it was a love letter, raw and unrehearsed, from a country boy to the woman who changed his world.

Blake and Gwen are officially Mr. and Mrs. Shelton.

They got married in an intimate ceremony over the weekend, and confirmed the news themselves after posting photos of the day on Instagram:

Today show co-host Carson Daly, a longtime friend of both Blake and Gwen, officiated the ceremony and shared details this morning about the day.

Apparently, Blake pulled out all the stops after Carson convinced the couple they should write their own vows, as opposed to the traditional “repeat after me” lines you typically hear at a wedding ceremony:

“I don’t want to divulge too much, because it is their wedding, and their weekend, it’s their story to tell. I will tell you one great story about the wedding itself. And that was, I worked on it for months with them and without them to get the ceremony just how they wanted it.

One of the things I went to them months ago and said ‘I think you guys should write your own vows. We shouldn’t just do the repeat after me’.

And they were really reluctant to do that. But they decided… just because they’re two of the best songwriters in the world, you know, we want to hear your words.”

It’s hard to imagine either one of them being nervous to write their own vows, but it sounds like they passed the test with flying colors:

“At the wedding, Gwen starts, and she wrote this I mean like, ‘Since I was a little girl’, blah blah blah, and she crushes.

Not a dry eye in the church. It was so perfect that I said ‘Blake’, when she was done I was like, ‘Top that, buddy.’

And Blake starts by saying ‘Gwen’s always giving me a hard time about not writing enough songs, so I wrote a song.’”

A complete boss move on Blake’s part if you ask me.

That’s the type of stuff most girls only dream about. Unfortunately, most of them don’t end up marrying a professional musician, but you get the point. It’s adorable.

And, not only does he proceed to play the song right then and there during the ceremony, he does it in TEARS because he loves her so much that he can’t even keep it together.

Takes notes, guys:

“Guitar comes in frame, stool, next thing you know, he wrote her a song. And he sings her a song while he’s crying that he wrote specifically for her.

‘Reach the Star’ I think it was called. And not a dry eye in the house. And that was really a highlight.”

I can only hope that we might get to hear said song one day. Congrats to the newlyweds.

“You need a party dress when u get to marry Blake Shelton.”
