Anne Burrell Thought to Have Suffered Cardiac Arrest, According to 911 Call Report

Authorities who arrived at Anne Burrell’s home were responding to a 911 call about a reported cardiac arrest.

The Food Network star was found dead in her Brooklyn, N.Y. home on the morning of Tuesday, June 17. She was 55.

Burrell was found unresponsive by New York Police Department officers. According to a 911 call report provided to PEOPLE by the New York City Fire Department, a person called in at 7:50 a.m. concerned that she had suffered cardiac arrest.

Her official cause of death has not yet been confirmed by the Office of Chief Medical Examiner.

While the report did not list Burrell’s name, the address provided matched Burrell’s address, according to an online search conducted by PEOPLE.

In December 2024, on an episode of fellow Food Network star Rachael Ray’s podcast I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead, Burrell said of her perseverance in the kitchen, “When things like that happen, you just, like, push on. You don’t even think about it even in the moment, and you just carry on. And it’s like, alright. Let’s get the job done. What do we have to do?”

Reps for the star announced Burrell’s death in a release obtained.

She is survived by her husband, Stuart Claxton, whom she wed on Oct. 16, 2021, and his son, Javier, as well as her mother, Marlene, and sister, Jane, her children Isabella, Amelia and Nicolas, and her brother Ben.

“Anne was a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend — her smile lit up every room she entered,” her family said in a statement. “Anne’s light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world. Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal.”
