Carrying on the legacy, the sons of Don Reid and Harold Reid took the stage to perform “The Class of ’57,” a heartfelt tribute that brought back memories of the Statler Brothers’ golden years.

Introduction

Wilson Fairchild is the duo of cousins Langdon Reid and Wil Reid, who carry forward the rich heritage of their fathers, Don Reid and Harold Reid of the Statler Brothers. Their album Statler Made, featuring “The Class of ’57,” was released on January 12, 2024 by Gaither Music Group.

“The Class of ’57” originally appeared on the Statler Brothers’ 1972 album, written by Don and Harold Reid. Its lyrics cast snapshots of former classmates—Tommy selling used cars, Nancy fixing hair, Jerry driving trucks, and many more—juxtaposing youthful ambition against the realities of adult life. The recurring refrain, “And the class of ’57 had its dreams,” gently reminds us that dreams evolve as we move beyond eighteen, weaving the personal into a collective history.

This rendition was filmed live at the Loveless Café in Nashville, TN, as part of the Country’s Family Reunion series in 2023. Clocking in at 2 minutes and 51 seconds, the performance captures the Reid cousins’ heartfelt delivery and tight familial harmonies, honoring both the song’s legacy and their own roots in country music.

There’s a bittersweet comfort in revisiting the dreams of our youth. As friends and family share laughter and knowing smiles, this song draws out questions like: Where did we all end up? Which dreams did we chase, and which found us unexpectedly? It’s a gentle nudge to pause, reminisce, and celebrate how far we’ve come—together.
