Approval Rating as Economic Worries and Global Tensions Grow

Just months into his second term, President Trump is facing growing political turbulence. A recent poll shows his approval rating has slipped to 45%, down from 49% in January. Public dissatisfaction is rising amid economic challenges and escalating global tensions, particularly with the Middle East. Independent voters are leaning more Democratic, and overall, 53% of Americans believe the country is on the wrong path.

Perhaps most alarming for Republicans is Trump’s slipping support in Texas. Once a GOP stronghold, only 44% of Texans now back him, with 51% opposed. Discontent centers on the economy and inflation, and even Republican loyalty in the state has dipped slightly. These figures suggest that core red states may no longer be guaranteed wins.

On the global stage, Trump recently launched airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites, prompting retaliatory attacks but also leading to a temporary ceasefire between Iran and Israel. His brash recounting of missile strikes—praised by supporters for strength, but criticized for trivializing war—has further polarized opinion at home.

Despite declining approval ratings, Trump retains strong support among GOP voters, especially on immigration and defense. However, with midterms approaching and swing voters growing weary of economic and diplomatic instability, Trump must work to regain trust beyond his base. The coming months could define not only his presidency but the direction of the Republican Party.
