Chris Stapleton and Miranda Lambert shocked the crowd with the first-ever live performance of their brand-new duet—a moment that had the audience on their feet. But what truly stole the spotlight came seconds later. As the last notes rang out, the camera cut to Blake Shelton sitting quietly in the crowd. He wasn’t clapping. He wasn’t smiling. He was wiping away a tear. Just one, maybe two—but enough to say more than words ever could. His eyes, full of something raw and quiet, told the whole story. Maybe it was the memories flooding back—the days when he and Miranda stood on that same kind of stage, singing like it was their last night together. For a split second, time seemed to rewind. The crowd didn’t see a country star in that moment—they saw a man remembering love, loss, and the kind of songs that never really leave you.

Chris Stapleton And Miranda Lambert Release “A Song To Sing”

Country music powerhouses Chris Stapleton and Miranda Lambert have worked together for more than a decade. Stapleton recorded backing vocals for several of Lambert’s songs, including “Time to Get a Gun,” “Nobody’s Fool” (which he wrote), and “Hard Staying Sober.”

Lambert and Stapleton have each found success with their solo work and boast a combined 14 GRAMMY, 33 Country Music Association, and 59 Academy of Country Music awards.

Additionally, the two celebrated artists have delivered noteworthy performances together, including a 2014 performance of “Hard Staying Sober” and a 2021 performance of “Maggie’s Song” at the ACM Awards.

On July 7, Lambert and Stapleton surprised fans with the announcement of “A Song to Sing,” their first ever official duet.

The song dropped just a few days later, on July 11. The disco-infused track was co-written by Lambert and Stapleton along with Jesse Frasure and Jenee Fleenor. “A Song To Sing” currently resides in the Number one spot on Billboard’s Country Digital Song Sales chart.

Lambert told The Tennessean:

“To have someone so soulful and willing to go into the heart of the feelings, to share the pull of the road and creative life — and what that means when you love someone with every bit of your being is next level. When we finished it, we both knew we wanted to release it, to share it with everyone.”
