My SIL Demanded I Give My Late Son’s College Fund to Her Son

Five years after losing her son Robert, Clara remains deeply devoted to preserving his memory. The college fund created before his birth through love and sacrifice has grown untouched, symbolizing the dreams Robert once had of becoming an astrophysicist. Clara and her husband Martin have quietly endured years of infertility and grief, clinging to the hope the fund represents.

During Martin’s birthday dinner, his sister Amber shocks the family by demanding the unused college fund for her son Steven, arguing that Clara’s age and inability to conceive make the fund pointless. The moment turns tenser when their father-in-law Jay reveals that Amber had spent Steven’s original savings on a Disney trip, and that Steven has shown little academic promise. Jay defends Clara and Martin’s choice, emphasizing the fund’s emotional weight and Amber’s lack of responsibility.

Clara, composed but grieving, speaks up to say the fund is Robert’s legacy—a symbol of every hope they had for his future. Giving it away would mean erasing him again. After Amber leaves in anger, she sends Clara a bitter message, calling her selfish. Clara doesn’t respond, knowing that love cannot be forced or bargained.

That night, Clara sits in Robert’s room, peering through his old telescope. Martin joins her in silence, both mourning and cherishing their son’s memory. The fund remains untouched—not out of resentment, but out of love for the boy it was meant to support, and the dreams that still live within it.
