“FROM STADIUMS TO STABLES!” — Carrie Underwood Trades Red Carpets for Rubber Boots as Fans STUNNED by Her Humble Life Raising Chickens and Clipping Coupons. Who knew a Grammy-winning icon would rather feed goats than attend Hollywood parties? Carrie Underwood, beloved by millions, now shocks fans with her simple farm life—raising sons Isaiah and Jacob with dirt on her boots and love in her heart. No glam squads. No entourages. Just grocery runs, muddy chores, and homegrown wisdom. Her secret? Choosing peace over fame. And it’s turning more heads than any concert ever could.

Having grown up on a farm, Carrie Underwood has embraced her roots in recent years by cultivating an impressive garden and developing a deep love for growing her own food. She describes her garden as one of her “happy places,” where she finds peace, clarity, and time to reflect.

Over time, she has shared glimpses of her sprawling Tennessee property, including the organic garden she treasures. Her passion for homegrown produce led her to add a greenhouse, expanding her sustainable lifestyle.

After tying the knot with former NHL star Mike Fisher in a charming Southern wedding in July 2010, the couple chose a quieter life in the countryside. In 2011, they purchased 400 acres in Franklin, Tennessee, for $3 million with the vision of building a serene retreat surrounded by nature. Their custom-built estate includes horse stables, a lake, and rolling hills.

In 2012, during an episode of Oprah’s Next Chapter, the couple gave a tour of their land, pointing out areas they’d transformed—like a scenic ridge with sweeping views and a newly planted orchard. A peaceful picnic spot on higher ground was also highlighted, described as a favorite breezy spot where more trees would eventually be planted.

Their love for nature extended beyond landscaping. In July 2022, Underwood posted a video showing the abundance of her garden, writing, “My garden is one of my happy places… when I’m getting my hands dirty, it’s my time for thought and reflection.”

Since 2018, Underwood’s devotion to self-sufficient living has grown. She’s maintained her garden, cared for chickens, expanded her orchard, and introduced new animals to the farm. In December 2020, Fisher surprised her with two cows, lovingly named Brownie and Oreo by their son, Isaiah.

In 2023, Underwood collaborated with Epic Gardening to install a greenhouse. She proudly showed off the structure, which includes a potting bench, citrus trees, herb beds, and tables filled with seedlings. Just outside, her chickens roam near a coop that supplies fresh eggs.

The land also supports apple, peach, blueberry, and blackberry plants—making their meals truly farm-to-table. During a guest appearance on the Epic Gardening YouTube channel, Underwood praised Tennessee’s growing climate, saying she loves how she can “grow something from nothing.”

Her commitment to sustainability deepened with time. On The Dr. Axe Show in 2023, she revealed a personal goal: to stop buying food from the store. While she enjoys the lifestyle, she admitted her sons are still adjusting to the idea.

Underwood’s family now eats almost entirely from their land—fruits and vegetables from the garden, and meat from Fisher’s hunts. She’s noticed the distinct taste of homegrown food compared to store-bought, even organic.

Nothing is wasted in their home. Table scraps go to the chickens, and everything else is composted. “It’s all fun. It feels good to physically do all these things,” she said.

As her gardening know-how expanded, so did her goals. She added more beds to the greenhouse and proudly shared that she grows around 30–35 tomato plants, including 25 unique varieties. Tomatoes flourish on her property, along with squash, beans, onions, and peppers—all grown with care and intention.

To continue learning, Underwood dives into books and podcasts, gaining knowledge about plant pairings, pest control, and seasonal growing. “A lot of it comes down to just paying attention,” she noted, highlighting the hands-on nature of gardening.

Her long-term dream of a self-sufficient homestead was shared by Fisher. In 2016, she revealed that they were designing their “forever home,” which would feature a wood-burning fireplace, porch swing, and rocking chairs.

Their completed estate, which they moved into in 2018, includes a full basement, multiple living spaces, a walk-in closet in the master suite, and plenty of room for their growing family.

Their previous home in Brentwood, TN—now listed for $1.45 million—was left behind after security concerns and a serious fall that resulted in more than 40 facial stitches prompted the couple to relocate.

Despite personal hardships, including multiple miscarriages, Underwood leaned into her faith. After praying for clarity, she became pregnant with her second son, Jacob, born in 2019.

Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher have created a life centered around faith, family, and a deep connection to the land. Through challenges and triumphs, they’ve built a peaceful, fulfilling life on their farm—nurturing their children and their dreams in the heart of Tennessee.
