Former “MasterChef México” contestant Yanin Rocío Campos Ruiz, 38, tragically died on August 4, 2025, following a car accident in Chihuahua City. A dedicated nurse who balanced shift work with her passion for cooking, Yanin won fans through both her bedside manner and vibrant television presence.
Early on August 2, she collided in her GMC Terrain with a parked Ford Econoline on the R. Almada beltway near Privada de Samaniego. Severely injured, she was rushed to Christus Muguerza del Parque Hospital, where she succumbed two days later. Local authorities have opened an investigation into possible speeding or distracted driving as contributing factors.
Yanin first rose to prominence in 2018’s fourth season of “MasterChef México,” finishing sixth and later competing in the 2019 “La Revancha” edition. She went on to host the regional show “La Tertulia,” built a popular YouTube channel, and became known for her warm on-screen charisma and inventive recipes that resonated with home cooks nationwide.
Tributes poured in from colleagues and fans alike. Producer Iker Emerson Navarrete posted “Vuela muy, muy alto @yanin_chefmx” on Instagram, while her brother Raúl Campos announced her passing on Facebook and invited mourners to Hernández Funeral Home. Dozens shared memories of her kindness, faith, and contagious enthusiasm—testaments to the genuine spirit she brought to every kitchen and clinic she entered.
